My Approach to Training

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” – Bruce Lee

Practicing the Internal Arts has taught me that it is not a hobby we do a couple of times a week; it is a way of life.  It is a door opened on a different universe, both parallel and intertwined with our daily life.  The Art is endless and endlessly applicable to every aspect of our life.  Being engaged on this endless path, I can only look ahead humbly and keep working, while bowing to those who preceded me and saluting those who are following me.

My Approach to Teaching

“Nothing equals the thrill of seeing student accomplish something they thought impossible.”

When teaching Chen Tai Chi or Internal Kung Fu, I keep the outward complexity of the movements in mind and place a great emphasis on deconstructing all movements into manageable parts.  Understanding that we all learn in different ways, I make every effort to present the material in different ways in order to facilitate each student’s progress.  Most of all, I believe that teaching is the most powerful way to learn; I remain grateful to all my students for being my unsuspecting teachers.
