"Your life is in your own hands" is a famous Taoist saying. The Ancient Taoists of beleived that you have control over many aspects of your own life. Feng Shui (風水) is one of the arts used for centuries to keep families healthy, wealthy and happy.
In ancient times, when people were stricken by illness, they would seek assistance not only from a traditional Chinese medical doctor, but also from a Feng Shui practitioner. The doctor would treat the disease and advise on personal lifestyle such as diet and Qigong. The Feng Shui practitioner would examine the environment to identify an possible sources of disease. Similarly, Feng Shui was used to assist in more mundane matters like wealth creation and retention. It was also used to support harmonious family relationships
Feng Shui works by providing a way to understand the flow of energy in the environment and how it effects you. Much like the way human Qi flows in the meridians of the body, earthly Qi flows throughout our houses and cities. By adjusting our living space, we can adjust the flow of Qi in our environment, just as Qigong and Acupuncture adjust the energy flow in our body.
