This course is part of the Applied Qigong for Holistic Healing Certification Program and the Qigong and Tai Chi Certification program.
Purpose
The purpose of this workshop is to learn traditional Chinese healing practices that will help Harmonize the Yin and Yang energy in the body. We will introduce Chinese philosophy of ONENESS: nature is not just a “backdrop environment” that needs our protection – it is ONE with us through the Tao. Participants will experience meditations and practices to connect with the sun, moon, animals, and healing energy in our environment and discuss how to share them with holistic nurses, patients, and the wider community.
Course Objectives: upon completion, the participant will be able to
1. Outline the basic concept of ancient Chinese philosophy of “People
and Nature as One” and “Harmonizing Yin and Yang” principles
2. Demonstrate the movements of the Five Animal Frolics
3. Discuss the use of the natural energy sources of the Sun and Moon
to revitalize, replenish, and balance the energy in the body
4. Describe application of the three treasures of nature: water,
wind, and light to cleanse and heal the body
5. Demonstrate selective self-healing techniques, to Harmonize Yin
and Yang
6. Discuss how the principle of “Balancing Yin and Yang” can be
brought to the wider holistic nursing community and beyond.
The following criteria will be used to determine successful completion of this educational activity:
1. In a group setting, demonstrate beginning skill level of the Five
Animal Frolics and selective self-healing techniques, to Harmonize Yin
and Yang.
2. Participation in group discussion of the basic concept
of ancient Chinese philosophy of “People and Nature as One” and
“Harmonizing Yin and Yang” principle, the use of the natural energy
sources of the Sun and Moon to revitalize, replenish, and balance the
energy in the body, and the application of the three treasures of
nature: water, wind, and light to cleanse and heal the body.
3.
Participation in discussion of the application of the principle of
“Balancing Yin and Yang” to the wider holistic nursing community and
beyond.
4. Completion of a Personal Learning Note
Successful completion of this course will result in the awarding of 6 contact hours (6 CNE credits for nurses)
